The Sara Ingrassia - Jackie Confer Dictionary Fund was formed to provide a dictionary for every third grade student in the Rockford public school system. We have distributed a new dictionary each year for the past twelve years…over 25,000 dictionaries!

We recently changed our name to honor the passing of our fellow board member and dictionary fund founder Jackie Confer.
Each year volunteers distribute the dictionaries to all the third graders on Dictionary Day, the third Tuesday of October.
We sort, label and package the dictionaries by school and teacher before dictionary day. We need volunteers to help label and pack the books for Dictionary Day. Click on the Donations and Volunteers link for more information.
Your contribution will buy a student his or her own dictionary — in a few cases, this will be the only book he or she owns. If you can, consider donating dictionaries for an entire classroom or even all the third graders in a school.
